New! Please take a look at our new Shobu Zukuri style blades. This blade was made without yokote resulting in a long and elegant kisaki. The term Shobu means “Iris” and refers to the resemblance of the long tapering shape of the kissaki to the Iris leaf. The original style is believed to have been made with the elongated and extremely sharp tip in order to pierce Mongol armore during the great invasions in the 1200s and took its more prominent forms in the 1300s. The Zanshin Shobu is available in 1060, 1095 and forge folded Kasane Tetsu steel with clay tempered hamon (Hiro-suguha) and prominent mokume/itame forge pattern with O-Maru cutback (boshi). We offer these at the same prices as our standard shinogi zukuri blades in comperable steels. Please call for information as we add text and photographs
